My New Zealand Innovators and Inventors

 In our reading group, our learning has focussed on New Zealand innovators and inventors.

I chose to learn about who created pavlova first (NZ VS AUSTRALIA)

I found out that New Zealand made pavlova first but Australia was the first to make there own version. So it depends who you think was the first to make the yummy treat.

MY INVENTORS AND INOVATORS

 In our reading group, our learning has focussed on innovators and inventors.

An innovator is a person who introduces new methods, ideas, or products.

Kids can be inventors too. I found out that Benjamin Franklin made hand paddles at twelve (we now call them flippers).

I would like to invent booster boots (they are boots that make you bounce 10 meters!).

My Amazing Game Froot

Today we were using canva to make gifs.

It was fun because we got to do it ourselves.

It was challenging to make the words but I got there in the end.

 In our literacy group, our learning has focussed on the underwater kingdom.

An interesting thing about Great White Sharks is they have 300 teeth!!!

Penguins only live in the southern hemist ther

Marine Reserves are important because they protect and help sea creatures like turtles.

I think the Lost City of Atlantis is fake although it could have sunk in the Bermuda triangle.

The Sea And Me

 In our literacy group, our learning has focussed on the sea.

An interesting thing about dolphins is When you do something easy a like a wave they will be like hey i can do that do and they might wave back.

Marine Biologists study fish and and other creatures that live in the ocean.

Shellfish are important to the sea because They clean the sea floor.

Seaweed is amazing because we have lots of species native to New Zealand and a 3rd of them cannot be found anywhere else.

Kakapo The old night parrot

In our literacy group, we have been learning about Endangered Animals in New Zealand.

I chose The Kakapo because it is very native and critically endangered.

They are endangered because of plastic, predators and diseases.

An interesting thing that I learned was There are only 201 Kakapo left.

To help endangered animals, I think we could keep our rubbish with us or throw it in the bin or put lots of rat, ferret, mouse and anything that wants to eat the eggs or carrys diseases with them put traps down for them.

 

Ormond Olympics

Last week we did our Ormond Olympics (athletics day).

I really enjoyed the long jump because it counts where your hands go.

Something that was a bit tricky was the high jump because the bar is metal and if your bare footed and your feet hit the bar it will really hurt.

I am really proud of my team coming 3rd in the fun part of the Olympics, I also really enjoyed this because I could race with my dad.

I was persevering in my throwing because I am not so good at throwing.

What I have learnt about Moa

 In our literacy group, we have been learning about Moa.

Moa were big birds that are flightless

They became extinct because Māori and Haast Eagles hunted them down.

An interesting thing that I learned was they were found on the East Coast (somewhere near Gisborne).

My Ancient Olympics Slides

Many Maths Week

This week we have been doing lots of maths.

It has been really fun.

We did some Olympic maths challenges because the Olympic games are on.

They are stuff like canoeing when you make a small boat out of tinfoil and put as many stones on as possible before it sinks,than you measure it. Hockey is when you need to flick a plastic coin into a table with a ice block stick in one minute.(one with most scores wins!). Here i am doing archery in my group kelped. 

This week in Maths, we have been focussing on olimpic mesurement

I really enjoyed the time throwing the darts to see where they would land

Something that was a bit tricky was getting all the plastic coins in the goal in 1 minute.

I am really looking forward to doing canoeing when you see how many stones you can fit on a boat.

A great holiday

 The first two days of the holidays were kind of basic. All I was doing was playing soccer and going on devices. The first week wasn't that much fun either, just a bit of picking lemons to get money I guess.

 But the second week was a blast! We got to go down to the Kauaeranga Valley to stay at the Michael Stead Memorial Lodge. Me and Matthew built an fantastic three roomed hut, but it kept falling apart each day so we changed it to just two rooms. The second day we went to look for some houses that were great. One had was a house with lots of room that you could look out to a massive lake. One was in the middle of a hill with a long drive way (dad liked this one best). One was an epic house with a massive TV and a fridge that had a camera (which could show you if you needed food or not!). The last one was a house that was close to civilisation and was quite modern. (All houses were great)

 The next day was super fun because we went up the PINNACLES! We stopped at the pinnacles hut for lunch than we went up the pinnacles them selves. It was really scary though but we could see the Mercury Islands from there. But sadly on the way up mum had an injury so we stopped at the hut to put a plaster on mum.

Then last but not least we stayed at our grandparents house for a night. We watched High Plains Drifter and in the morning we watched TV and than went home and had a big party at night with a sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and cream, Yuuuuum.

How to make a cup and saucer

 Today was the first time making a cup and saucer. (my way!!!) either look on my video or look bellow on the story. 

How to:

 only put the string around your thumb and pinkie.

put both index fingers in the sting on your palm. (it should look like a few zig zags)

put your thumbs in the second zig zag.

bring your fingers down to the bottom circle and than you have a cup and saucer 

Farmers Air

 Today we went to farmers air.

It was really fun.

Science Week

 This week was science week.

I made a da Vinci bridge, Turned milk into plastic and made Invisible writing.

It was really fun.

The best part was finishing the invisible writing.

I found it hard to build the da vinci bridge all by myself.

But luckily my group was there to help me.

My group name was called kellped and it stands for all our names.

K for Kieran, L for Liam,L for Leo and D for Dj.

 

Mothers Day Poem

 On Friday it was Mothers Day and we were having a celebration.

It was real fun but my mum could not make it so my grandma came instead.

There were so many games like Twister, Chess and so much more.

But there weren't just games there were decorated cupcakes and drinks too.

MAUI FISHED UP THE NORTH ISLAND REFLECTIONS

Today I was learning how to do a play with freeze frames. 

For this play there were five options the 1st brother, 2nd brother, 3rd brother, the 4th brother or Maui. 

The easiest part was setting up all the props and doing all the acting lines because I didn't make too many mistakes.

The hardest part was doing all the talking lines because people kept getting muddled up.

Today I was learning how to record an interview with my buddy on screencastify.

I found screencastify easy to use because I listen to instructions.
I enjoyed recording because I got to hear how he did.

Lego boat 2

Today we could do a lego challenge I finished all my work so I got to do a lego challenge.

The lego challenge for this week was to build a lego boat  so I built the lego boat.

The first boat (HMS Kieran mark 1) wasn't a success it capsized and sank not to detention you should go watch the video.The second boat (HMS Kieran mark 2) didn't sink I sailed and sailed and sailed until it went half way under water when it nearly collied with another boat witch I didn't show in the video.

Week six post 2021

 We are learning how to post on our blogs

The most tricky thing when you are posting on your blog for me is writing on our slide and what to write on our slide that where going to post.

 today we were make a kawa of care

we had to add speech bubbles to put the writing in.

 Yesterday we were doing a profile picture for our blog.

I did some Information about me and drew my face on top of my face.

Feel free to read my blog profile and look at the picture.

We made our picture with poly line and curve. We could also use shapes and word art but these ones are much better and easy to use.

 Today we were using the forklift hold to hold your chromebooks.

We had to have pictures of us holding the chrome book with the forklift hold.

My 3rd week at ormond school in 2021

Today in the first block there was a mars landing to see if there was any life on mars.

After that I did maths whizz I got heaps of gems,it was really fun then I finished my pepeha.

STEM Challenge Week 1: Longest Paper

 The STEM challenge this week was making the longest paper line by just using scissors. You couldn’t glue or anything you only can only use scissors.

The hardest part was finding ideas and trying to not snap it because it was very skinny so it was hard to carry it. The easiest bit was cutting around the corners and pulling it along the floor. Next time I would try and make it more skinny so it’s longer and cut all the way to the end.

The most fun thing about it was sharing ideas and getting to talk to other people.

It was really fun overall and I can’t wait for the next challenge.
